The founder of the Wander brand Andriy Amelin tells the most interesting things about the birth of the brand, the recipes of our sweets, the team, and plans for the future.
- For more than 20 years, I have been engaged in the distribution of confectionery products. The work of one of my partners - the international company Puratos, which produces the highest quality chocolate - Belcolade, led me to think about the development of chocolate production in the premium segment.
What makes Wander special
- In Ukraine, chocolate consumption is still very low: the average Ukrainian consumes up to 2 kg per year, while in many European countries it is 10-12 kg/year. This means that there are very few players in the chocolate market in our country. Our specialty is that we work with Belgian chocolate and chocolate types authentic to the cocoa-growing region. It is about a line of terroir chocolates from South America, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. Each such chocolate bar has its own unique taste due to the features of rare sorts of cocoa. Such chocolate is capable of surprising the most demanding connoisseurs.
How we created Wander
- Starting the project was not difficult. It was difficult to find talented chocolatiers: not only in Zhytomyr but in Ukraine they were rare. We had to hire workers with pastry chef qualifications and teach them the art of chocolate making. During the year, we formed a completely professional team of master chocolatiers.
- I, the chocolatiers with whom we cooperated, and our craftsmen created the sweets' recipes. Wander is a journey. Everyone who travels with us brings something interesting and useful to our business.
- I am always inspired by history and geography. We try to convey the spirit of travel through ingredients of a certain origin, through stories related to one or another geographical area. Yes, in our Madre de Cacao collection dedicated to South America, we use local chocolate sorts and ingredients. We pay no less attention to the visual component of our sweets: you want to eat them even before you taste them.
- Being a perfectionist, for me there are no limits to improvement, there is always room to move. Everything we offer in our catalog is made carefully, with imagination and love, but we never stop in our desire to improve, to come up with something more unusual.
How we bring chocolate to every home
- We have already realized that people like Wander, and they like to get our products as gifts. But now we make a line of chocolates called Nitty-gritty, it's high-quality chocolate with which everyone can spoil themselves every day. Nitty-gritty has a democratic price, seven different, very interesting flavors, and there is a set without sugar. We will be very interested to hear feedback about the new flavor combinations in this line, we plan to change the composition according to the preferences of our customers.
